As we all have been paying close attention to Hurricane Laura, I wanted to be sure you had some critical information for today, Thursday, August 27, 2020.  Please be mindful that heat index values could be 105 degrees this afternoon.  It would be a great idea to practice all your hot weather safety tips.  Heat-related illnesses are no joke.  Also, we have a 50 percent of showers and thunderstorms, and that drops to 30 percent for tonight.

Don’t forget we have a Hazardous Weather Outlook that also deals with the remnants of Hurricane Laura with a timeline between Noon Friday through Midnight Friday Night.  According to the National Weather Service, the heat index concern and the potential for hazardous weather affects the following counties: “Marion-Lamar-Fayette-Winston-Walker-Blount-Etowah-Calhoun-Cherokee-Cleburne-Pickens-Tuscaloosa-Jefferson-Shelby-St. Clair-Talladega-Clay-Randolph-Sumter-Greene-Hale-Perry-Bibb-Chilton-Coosa-Tallapoosa-Chambers-Marengo-Dallas-Autauga-Lowndes-Elmore-Montgomery-Macon-Bullock-Lee-Russell-Pike-Barbour.”
