Monday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome saw the best performance of the year by the Alabama defense and it was highlighted by junior Da'Ron Payne's MVP effort.

The defensive lineman recorded an interception on defense and caught his first career touchdown pass out of the backfield to give the Tide a 17-6 lead. After the game, the former Shades Valley standout accepted the Sugar Bowl MVP award for his performance in the 24-6 victory.
