Auburn's star kicker has a dog named BAMA. Say what?

AL.com has a great story about Tigers' kicker Daniel Carlson. When the Carlson family adopted their dog they could only think of one name worthy of so much love. They named their pup after the football team they cherished. Daniel Carlson grew up a diehard Bama fan but somehow ended up at Auburn. Actually, Daniel wanted to play for Bama, but Nick Saban did not offer him a scholarship.

Gus Malzahn calls Daniel Carlson the best kicker in the country.

Daniel's family all have ties to Bama. Daniel's mama even helped Bear Bryant recruit football players. His grandmother was an Alabama cheerleader. Grandfather Carlson said "the family is about as red & white as you can get".

Gramps refused to watch his grandson play for Auburn. Finally he softened & took in a game. Does he want his grandson to play well on Saturday? He says "yes".
Does he want his grandson to play well enough to beat Bama? Well, its complicated.
