It truly warmed my heart to witness the loving support that many have for long-time Alabama Crimson Tide play-by-play broadcaster Eli Gold. He has “served as the voice of the Crimson Tide since 1988 but due to health issues, he will not be available at the beginning of the year,” as reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread.

Tide 100.9 personality Ryan Fowler announced on his show a few weeks ago that he would be gathering get-well cards for Eli Gold which he felt was “an easy way to let Eli know how much we care about him,” said Fowler.

Once other personalities from Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa found out about Fowler’s plans and we all jumped in to help spread the word on our radio shows.

The get-well cards have been rolling in like the Tide for the beloved veteran broadcaster. In our last count, we have received get-well cards and notes of encouragement from across SEC country.

The majority of the cards came from the Yellowhammer State but we received numerous cards from neighboring states like Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia.  Also, we received cards from New Mexico, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and so many other states.

Let’s continue to uplift Eli Gold in positive thoughts and prayers as he recovers from health issues. We all look forward to the day he returns to the broadcast.

Fowler said that “maybe we can help encourage him to improve his health and his spirits with a simple card or note. We can also let Eli know how much he means to the Bama nation.”
