Garth Brooks will perform at the 2018 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo not once, but twice. During a press conference at RodeoHouston 2017 on Thursday night (March 16), the country megastar revealed that he will both open and close the event in 2018.

Brooks is slated to open the rodeo with his performance on Feb. 27, and he'll close out the festivities with a second performance on March 18. In true Garth Brooks style, it'll be the first time in the history of the annual event that the same person has played both shows.

"We are thrilled to welcome Garth Brooks back to the RodeoHouston stage," says Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Chairman of the Board Jack A. Lyons in a press release. "This is the first time in multi-entertainer show history that one artist has opened and closed RodeoHouston, and we could not think of a more engaging performer to take on this epic presentation."

Both Brooks and event organizers hinted at his upcoming announcement on Thursday afternoon, with Brooks tweeting, “On my way to Austin, via Houston? Hmmmm. I have an announcement to make!”

Later in the afternoon, the rodeo tweeted a picture of a woman holding up a sign with the phrase, “Something great is coming …” written on it, with the G in "great" stylized like Brooks' logo.

Brooks is scheduled to speak at SXSW on Friday afternoon (March 18). He is currently still touring all over North America in the third year of his massive Garth Brooks World Tour, which is expected to wrap its stateside run in 2017 before Brooks turns his attention to touring overseas. Brooks has just released a new single, "Ask Me How I Know."
