Four Alabama Towns Named “Most Christmassy” in the Nation
Christmas time is here again, time to decorate the tree, the house and even the front yard. You can stream Christmas music continuously from Nick 97.5, adding to the ambiance of the holiday season. But let’s say you really love the Christmas season and want to be in a “Christmassy” town.
Recently, Mixbook ranked the 75 most “Christmassy” towns across the country, and Alabama had four cities make the list that will give you those Christmas vibes.
#70 Wicksburg, AL
Wicksburg is located in south Alabama, just west of Dothan. The area is referred to as the “Wiregrass.” I have lived in this area on four separate occasions.
Wicksburg is a small community and is very well known for its Christmas decorations and light displays. It's not unusual to have heavy traffic in the area during the holiday season. People will come from all directions just to see the lights.
#28 Theodore, AL
If you are ever in Mobile County, stop by Theodore and see the Bellingrath Gardens & Home Magic Christmas in lights. The event is celebrating its 28th year, and those interested can get more info on times and tickets at Bellingraph.org. This light display will surely give you that Christmas vibe you have been looking for!
#25 Andalusia, AL
Andalusia is over 70 miles from Dothan and is the home of Christmas in Candyland, which is a combination of rides for the kids, amazing light displays and so much more. At Christmas in Candyland, you can experience train rides, snow tubing and more. Additional information is available at christmasincandyland.com.
#13 Foley, AL
When lots of Alabamians think of Foley, we think of it as on our way to the beach. However, the city of Foley has a very Christmassy vibe to it. There is something for everyone, from Christmas parties to ornament painting for the kids. Foley would make even the Grinch smile a little bit.
