Former Alabama football defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher has re-entered the transfer portal, according to senior national college football reporter for On3Sports Matt Zenitz.

The La., native played in one game during the 2019 season for the Crimson Tide versus Western Carolina, and did not see the field in 2020.

The redshirt sophomore transferred to the University of Southern California in December of 2020 but did not play a snap last season.

According to On3Sports, he committed to Southeastern Louisiana last month after entering the transfer portal in January.

Sopsher was in the recruiting class of 2019, alongside OT Evan Neal, DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, QB Bo Nix, and OLB Nakobe Dean. He ranked No. 39 nationally, No. 2 in defensive tackles, and the No. 3 recruit in La., in ESPN’s 300.

“Densely built defender with a powerful lower-half and a thick upper-half who brings mass without a lot of bad weight. Has natural strength and punch and uses his hands effectively when he wants to. Can flash suddenness and get-off for a bigger defender and has demonstrated instances of good lateral quickness,” said former director of scouting for 247Sports Barton Simmons on Sopsher.

Alabama sent Sopsher an offer in 2016 and he picked the Crimson Tide over Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Clemson, just to name a few. He committed in February of 2019 and officially enrolled in May of the same year.
