Flood Watch Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Alabama Soon
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Flood Watch,” which is in place from Friday, March 8, in the afternoon until Saturday, March 9, in the afternoon.
“Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is expected to arrive as early as midday Friday and persist through Saturday afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts are likely,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
This expected heavy rainfall could run off rapidly due to already wet soil conditions across central Alabama.

Flash flooding and rises on small streams and drainage basins will be possible.
IMPACTS
Excessive runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
