Find Out When Alabama Can Bid Farewell to Winter Coats
It seems like our area has been under frigid conditions for a long time. The reality is that it hasn’t been incredibly long, but it feels that way in the Deep South.
There are a few more days of cold weather with hard freeze warnings and wind chill advisories for portions of Alabama. But the good news of warmth is on the way.
Weekend Outlook
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Temperatures will stay below freezing over the northern half of Alabama today despite a sunny sky, and we go back into the teens early tomorrow morning. A freeze is likely down to the Gulf Coast.”
Then, “Sunny weather continues tomorrow, and we warm into the 40s by afternoon for most communities.”
Drastic Temperature Change Coming Soon
As we kick off the week, you will notice a shift in the temperatures as they are expected to soar into the 60s and 70s during the latter part of the week. This is due to a significant change in the upper air pattern across North America, which is set to bring forth a substantial thaw in the upcoming week.
Here is a great example of the projected warm-up for Tuscaloosa, with a high of 53 on Monday, 60 on Tuesday, 68 on Wednesday, 71 on Thursday, and 68 on Friday.
The other news is that the weather turns wet. “Monday will be dry, but periods of rain are likely on a daily basis Tuesday through Saturday (January 23-27), and rain amounts across Alabama will be in the 3 to 5-inch range,” said Spann.
