Fight Against Cancer at the Relay For Life of Tuscaloosa Friday
The American Cancer Society means a lot to me because of the spirit of fighting against cancer. Let me be clear; I hate cancer. My mother and father both battled cancer. Also, I have had numerous family and friends lose their fight against cancer.
This Friday, April 16, 2021, at sundown, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Tuscaloosa County will light up Tuscaloosa with a community-wide luminaria service. It kicks off at the “Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center at DCH Regional Medical Center between 6 pm and 7 pm. The first 200 vehicles will receive a gift bag.”
I believe that we CAN have a future that is free from cancer. But, we must fight and fundraise. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life combines so many people that join together to fight against cancer. I’ve been at various Relay For Life events with current cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and participants. It’s a special time.
Tanya Winstead, the Event Co-Chair, said that they “envision a future where we no longer live with the threat of cancer. Unfortunately, that future is at risk, and there is a mission urgency since COVID-19 forced the postponement of fundraising activities this past year. We want you to help us give hope the advantage for the future to be cancer-free.”
