‘DuckTales’ Reboot Gets First Trailer and Season 2 Renewal, Whoo-Oo!
If the headline alone didn’t get that famous DuckTales theme in your head, Disney XD has plan to make sure it stays there. Not only do we have our first trailer for the star-studded reboot, but also word that Season 2 has already been greenlit.
Disney XD confirmed as much with its release of the first trailer, albeit without clarifying a specific premiere for the summer release. Most recently, we learned Jessica Jones star and Doctor Who favorite David Tennant will voice Scrooge McDuck, along with SNL star (alum?) Bobby Moynihan as Louie, Ben Schwartz as Dewey, Danny Pudi as Huey, Kate Micucci as Webby, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack.
Eyed for a summer 2017 premiere, the first season will also consist of twenty-one half-hour episodes and two hourlong specials, with Matt Youngberg serving as executive producer beside story editor/co-producer Francisco Angones, and Gravity Falls art director Sean Jimenez.
The original Emmy-winning DuckTales ran from 1987-1990 as part of The Disney Afternoon daily cartoon block, which went on to spawn Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Talespin and 1990 theatrical movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Disney Television Animation will produce the new version, which also features Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell and Poe, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys.
Disney XD will likely soon come forth with a more specific DuckTales premiere, but stay tuned for the latest details.
