Drake White proves himself to be one of country music's most dynamic young vocalists with "Makin' Me Look Again," an aching love song from his Spark album.

Piano stops time as White pours his heart out to the woman he loves. His impenetrable vocals are cut down by the rawness of his confession. It's a love song that's absolute, with no hint of manipulation toward some bedroom end.

Pacing is everything here — a younger singer might feel a need to fill the long instrumental gaps, or simply cut them out all together. White carefully details how his lover picks him up after a long, long day. "I'm rust on a barbed wire, I'm dust on a chrome yeah / Yes I'm the heart that bleeds in an old country song," he sings during a poetic second stanza. "It Feels Good" and "Livin' the Dream" were colorful and packed with emotion, but nothing the singer has released — and very few songs any singer has released in 2016 — carry the weight of this heartbreakingly beautiful ballad.

Did You Know?: White recorded a live reggae version of "Makin' Me Look Good Again and released it on YouTube.

Drake White's "Makin' Me Look Good Again" Lyrics:

"Worn and haggard, weathered and torn / Drug through the keyhole of that back door / Blood shot red behind these shades / I look like hell, yes, I've seen better days."

"And then those loving arms they pull me back in / And there you go, baby, yeah, making me look good again."

"I'm rust on a barbed wire, I'm dust on a chrome yeah / Yes I'm the heart that bleeds in an old country song / And then those loving arms they pull me back in / And there you go, baby, yeah, making me look good again."

"Leather and lace, denim and pearls / Whiskey and wine, they go just fine, like you and me, girl / When you smile at me and say, there ain't no better place / Than you'd rather be than right here loving me."

"Standing in that kitchen, it's been a long day at work / Then you slip those hands right under my shirt / And there you go, baby, yeah, making me look good again."
