DA Declining Charges Against Cam Robinson, Hootie Jones
The district attorney for Monroe, Louisiana, confirmed Monday that the charges against Robinson and Hootie Jones would be declined, likely ending any concerns over legal issues for the Alabama football players.
Speaking with KNOE-TV, District Attorney Jerry Jones said that his office had insufficient evidence to move forward with the case.
"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," Jones told KNOE.
The two players were originally arrested on gun and drug charges in their hometown of West Monroe last month.
Now the question becomes what, if anything, will happen internally at Alabama. Head coach Nick Saban handles all punishment behind closed doors so it remains to be seen whether Robinson or Jones will miss any gametime this fall.
