Cucumber Salmonella Alert: Alabama Among Impacted States
Did you recently buy cucumbers? I did, and guess what—I got an email about a recall. I wanted to make sure you’re in the loop too. Turns out, I had already eaten one of the cucumbers before I even saw the recall notice.

Bedner Growers, Inc. is recalling whole cucumbers because of possible health risks. The cucumbers are being recalled for salmonella contamination. This recall impacts 15 states, including Alabama.
The company has issued a voluntary recall for cucumbers sold at Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market between April 29 and May 14, 2025.
According to the FDA, “Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”
"The cucumbers were grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce between April 29, 2025, to May 19, 2025," said the CDC.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), at least 26 people have been sickened in 15 states. Those states include:
Alabama
California
Colorado
Florida
Illinois
Kansas
Kentucky
Michigan
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Tennessee
Virginia
