CBD Store of Northport hold grand re-opening

Friday was a historic day for the CBD Store of Northport, which is now officially re-opened. The store, which sells oils derived from the cannabis plant, originally opened in June 2018, but it was shut down in October by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

The oils lack the compound THC, which is the ingredient in marijuana that gets users high, but until late last year the hemp from which the oils are made was still a federally controlled substance.

Two months after the Northport store was closed, President Donald Trump signed an $867 billion farm bill that removed the industrial hemp from the list of federally controlled substances, allowing the store to reopen.

Tony Bryan, the store's owner, said his products are all natural.

"CBD is a cannabinoid and our bodies naturally produce it, they just don't produce enough," Bryan told ALT 101.7. "When we take phytocannabinoids, which is from the plant, it helps our bodies produce more."

Although the store has been doing business again since shortly after bill was signed, their grand reopening was held Friday morning.

ALT 101.7 was present at the ribbon-cutting this morning with other many people from the community to show support. The shop is relaxing and almost homey, with products neatly on the shelves and a friendly staff. This business will have many years of success.
