Carrie Underwood will be changing into 11 different outfits at Wednesday's CMAs.  One is her red carpet dress, the other TEN will be during the show.  FIVE of those stage outfits are a salute to the CMA's 50th anniversary.

She'll wear a different outfit to celebrate each of the show's five decades:  The '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and '00s.

She tells "People" that one particular decade has been tough to nail down.  Quote, "It seemed like the '80s were a little more menswear inspired but in a less flattering way.  Right now, were looking at something that reminds me of my sister's prom dress."

She'll also be wearing several other looks on stage ... including a dress for her solo performance, a special tribute performance, plus an after-party dress.

Carrie's done a lot of quick changing at the CMAs over the years.  Her record time was forty seconds at the 2012 show.  She didn't even get to use her dressing room that time.  She had to change backstage while someone held up a sheet around her.
