While it is far from the biggest event on the golfing calendar of the year, Justin Thomas certainly seems to be embracing his Olympic experience.

The former Alabama star and current No. 4 ranked player in the world posted about how he felt about the Olympics last week on his Instagram account.

He's also keeping a keen perspective on where he ranks amongst the stratosphere of world class athletes.

The big question though is “can he win?"

Well, of course he can win. JT is a threat anytime he tees it up at any event around the world. Odds makers have made Thomas the No. 3 betting favorite behind fellow Americans Collin Morikawa (fresh off of his win at the Open Championship) and Xander Schauffele, who always seems to rise to the occasion in big events.

The fourth and final American on the squad is Patrick Reed who is a late substitute for the controversial Bryson DeChambeau who is out after having been diagnosed with COVID-19. The bigger name that the virus has claimed is World No. 1 and recent U.S. Open Champion, Jon Rahm of Spain.

The Olympic golf course, Kasumigaseki Country Club is said to be a “bombers paradise” as it is long and wide open. For that reason, it is disappointing not to have DeChambeau and Rahm in the field as they are amongst the games longest hitters.

This will also work to the detriment of Thomas, who ranks near the top of driving but cannot be considered a big hitter. Due to the layout, one player to keep an eye on in Rory McIlroy.  One of the biggest hitters on tour, he is not always the most accurate. At Kasumigaseki, this doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Other golfers to watch include Hideki Matsuyama, the Masters Champion, who has the distinct advantage of having played at this course many times over the years. This is a course not a lot of players have seen and the local knowledge combined with his immense talent should go a long way.

With the first round teeing off tomorrow evening, we will continue to provide updates on Thomas and the other USA golfers throughout the weekend. Roll Tide and best of luck to Justin and all of Team USA.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
