The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is planning to resurface SR-216 and enhance access management from near Covered Bridge Road to George Richmond Parkway in Brookwood. Bulls Construction Group will handle the construction project, which was awarded a value of $1.46 million.

Sidewalk installation and traffic signal upgrades are also included in the plans. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 11, with the installation of construction signs and is expected to continue through the end of the year, weather permitting.

According to the press release, “These improvements aim to enhance safety and mobility for those traveling to the nearby school and local businesses.”

To minimize traffic disruptions, the contractor is prohibited from starting work before 9 a.m. Additionally, no construction will be permitted on weekends when the University of Alabama hosts a home football game.

Motorists should anticipate delays throughout the project and are urged to follow posted work-zone speed limits for safety reasons.
