The final Live at the Plaza concert will feature an American Idol, as Ruben Studdard will be performing a free concert at Government Plaza.

The Birmingham native, Ruben Studdard quickly rose to fame while impressing judges and gathering new fans with his signing talent while on American Idol.  Judge Gladys Knight even called him the 'Velvet Teddy Bear,' a nickname that would stick to this day.  Ruben also made it cool to wear a shirt listing his home area code of 205. He would go on to win season two of American Idol.

Now, Ruben Studdard will close out the popular concert series for this summer when he performs Friday night (July 29th) at Government Plaza located in downtown Tuscaloosa on 6th Street. Live at the Plaza is free and open to the public, scheduled to run 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Guests are invited to bring coolers with beverages (including adult beverages), chairs and blankets.
