Alabama’s Evan Neal To Forgo NFL Combine Workouts

The Alabama Crimson Tide is potentially set to have its first No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick since 1948 in left tackle Evan Neal. As a prospect who's destined to be taken highly in April's draft, he's decided to forgo participating in the NFL Scouting Combine drills.

Neal will still head to Indianapolis and participate in the interview portion of the combine but will take extra time to prepare for his March 30 Pro Day.

The 6-foot-7 offensive tackle was a three-year starter for the Alabama Crimson Tide and helped Alabama to two SEC championships and a national title. He was a member of the Joe Moore Offensive Line of the Year Award in 2020 and is seen as a pro-ready offensive lineman.

In a draft that's largely seen as void of stars, Neal is competing with Michigan's Aidan Hutchinson, N.C. State's Ikem Ekwonu and Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux for the No. 1 overall selection.

Jacksonville selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall last season and will likely let former Alabama and fellow left tackle Cam Robinson walk in free agency. The AFC South squad already has successful edge defenders in Josh Allen and K'Lavon Chaisson, making Neal or Ekwonu the most sensible picks for the Jaguars.

Neal will likely participate in the medical check ups, the measurements and the interview process at the NFL Combine but will wait until March 30 to workout for scouts at the Alabama Pro Day.
