Alabama Stays Aware Amid Possible Tropical Depression Development

An area of low pressure over the western Caribbean Sea is generating scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The National Hurricane Center gives this a “0% formation chance through 48 hours.” However, it jumps up to a “50% for formation chance through 7 days.”

The environmental conditions seem favorable for gradual development, possibly allowing a tropical depression to form by midweek as the disturbance slowly moves west-northwestward.

The Weather Channel said, “The eastern Gulf Coast and Florida would be most favored for impacts regardless of whether a system forms or not. Enhanced rainfall in those areas is one possible impact by late week or this weekend, regardless of tropical development.”

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said it is “still too early to know the final destination or intensity.”
