With fall camp wrapped up and the first game week now upon us, Alabama released the inaugural depth chart of the 2018 season.

If you haven't seen a Nick Saban depth chart before, keep in mind that any players separated with a slash means that its Player A OR Player B. The coaching staff views them as co-starters or co-backups depending on which line they are listed on.

What did we learn from the first lineup? First, the quarterback situation isn't much different than what it's been since January. For what it's worth, Tua Tagovailoa is listed before Jalen Hurts but they are both on the top line at the position.

Beyond that, most of the new information lies on the defensive side of the football where injuries have impacted linebackers and the secondary has a lot of new faces. As you'll see in the picture below, Jamey Mosley is listed as the top backup for both outside linebacker spots along with true freshmen Eyabi Anoma at SAM and Cameron Latu at JACK.

The secondary looks like it did during most practices this month. Xavier McKinney and Deionte Thompson will man the safety positions while Trevon Diggs appears ready to start again at cornerback. Opposite him, however, newcomers Saivion Smith and Patrick Surtain II are both listed on the top line. It might take a couple games to find the rotation but expect a number of new players to get time in the secondary.

On special teams, Jospeh Bulovas and Austin Jones look like they will both get opportunities to kick this year while Trevon Diggs will be one of the primary returners. Keep an eye on true freshman Jaylen Waddle, who could get some chances on punt returns this year and has explosive play-making abilities.
