Winter Storm Lana brought winter weather to parts of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and now impacting Alabama. Later on today, the system will transition into all rain while moving towards Georgia, South and North Carolina.

As expected, the quick-hitting winter storm has arrived to portions of Alabama. The National Weather Service continues the Winter Weather Advisory that started at Midnight and goes until Noon on Monday, January 11, 2021. This involves Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston counties.

Some cities could receive snow, sleet, wintry mix, and/or rain as the day continues. Here are some cities and counties reporting snow:

Arley

Fayette

Grayson Valley

Haleyville

Marion

Millport

Natural Bridge

Winfield

We are monitoring this system as it develops and moves towards our coverage areas. At this time, the National Weather Service Birmingham notes that “it appears snow accumulations will be less than one half of an inch with a few localized areas of up to 1 inch near the Mississippi state line.”

We don’t expect any significant travel impacts. However, Captain Ray will be bringing you detailed information on road conditions on our Townsquare Media radio stations.
