Alabama Lieutenant Governor Joins ABC Alabama’s Hard Hat Tour
Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth participated in the 2024 Hard Hat Tour hosted by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama, visiting Harrison Construction's job site at the renovated Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa.
During the tour, Ainsworth engaged with industry leaders and construction workers, discussing key challenges facing Alabama's construction sector. Conversations focused on reducing red tape, streamlining regulations, and improving workforce development strategies. ABC Alabama President Jay Reed highlighted the importance of these discussions, emphasizing the industry's need for less regulatory burden. "We are very susceptible to excessive red tape, and it was productive to explore ways to reduce these burdens and support our members," Reed said. He also stressed the need for stronger workforce development initiatives to address the growing demand for skilled labor.
Tim Harrison, President of Harrison Construction and incoming Chairman of ABC Alabama, praised Ainsworth for his ongoing support of the construction industry. "Lt. Governor Ainsworth has been a champion for our industry since day one," Harrison said. "He understands the $17 billion impact our sector has on Alabama's economy and the need for new strategies to recruit and retain workers."
The Hard Hat Tour provides Alabama's policymakers with an opportunity to visit active construction sites and engage directly with workers and industry leaders. These tours are essential for fostering dialogue on critical issues, identifying solutions, and promoting the growth of the state's construction industry.
