Just days after the Crimson Tide flipped 2021 quarterback Jalen Milroe away from Texas, reports have emerged that Alabama is in the mix for the top quarterback in the 2023 class, Arch Manning. Manning, the grandson of Archie Manning was recently declared the No. 5 overall player in the 2023 class by 247Sports.

The Tide is recently familiar with signing the top-tier quarterbacks pulling in Blake Barnett in 2015, Tua Tagovailoa in 2017 and Bryce Young in the 2020 class. Manning has been high sought after since he burst onto the scene in middle school.

His recruitment will be one of the most competitive in recent years, given how many connections he and his family already have built in college football.

The son of Cooper Manning, is from Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans and has scholarship offers already from LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, Duke and others. His grandfather and uncle, Eli, both were stars at Ole Miss, and his other uncle, Peyton, a star at Tennessee. Both his uncles played for David Cutcliffe, the current coach at Duke.

The rising sophomore in high school led his team to a 9-1 season as a freshman and passed for 2,438 yards, 34 touchdowns with six interceptions in his first year starting in high school.

Hank South of 247Sports recently wrote the the Tide was certainly in play for the Louisiana prospect.

Pete Golding is Alabama's lead recruiter on the case and he will need to focus on building a relationship with the Mannings if the Tide is to secure his playing services. Isidore Newman Head Coach, Nelson Stewart said that the young player is going to take the recruiting process slow and focus on developing relationships with coaching staffs and choose a school based on the best fit for him.
