Increased Chance for Future Development of Invest 93L

We are keeping a close watch on its trajectory and potential for development. Currently, the National Hurricane Center has assessed Invest 93L with a medium formation chance of 40% through 48 hours and a 40% chance through 7 days.

Could This System Develop into a Tropical Storm?

Quick answer: it’s possible. However, certain factors contribute to this development, and it’s a relatively short window of time for this to occur.

“If this system moves far enough offshore, environmental conditions over the Gulf appear generally favorable for additional development, and a tropical depression could still form over the next couple of days before the system moves fully inland by the end of the week,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

If this becomes a named storm, it will be Dexter.

Wet Weather Potential

The Weather Channel said, “The highest rainfall totals will be near where this system decides to move onshore.”

“For the central Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach), scattered storms could be a little more numerous today and tomorrow due to this feature, but you will still see good intervals of sunshine,” said Spann.

Rip Current Risk

If you are traveling the Gulf Coast, be sure to pay attention to any information about the rip current risk. Currently, the National Weather Service in Mobile/Pensacola has a high alert for Thursday and Friday, with a moderate risk for the weekend.

More to come on this developing weather situation.
