Alabama Coach Underwent Heart Surgery
The Alabama football program has announced that offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian underwent a procedure to correct a congenital cardiovascular anomaly. Coach Sarkisian underwent the heart surgery last Thursday, July 2, in Birmingham. He is currently home in Tuscaloosa and is expected to make a full recovery. The issue was discovered during an annual executive physical that all the coaching staff undertakes prior to the season starting.
Sarkisian is the architect of one of college footballs most potent offenses last season. The Tide scored 47.2 points per game, good enough for second in the nation and 510.9 yards per game good enough for sixth most in the nation.
He was instrumental in convincing Tua Tagovailoa to come to Alabama and additionally recruited Taulia Tagovailoa. Sarkisian was also the primary recruiter for current freshman quarterback Bryce Young.
Our best wishes are with Coach Sarkisian as he continues to recover from this heart procedure.
