Alabama Awaits Arctic Blast: Deep Freeze, Wind Chills, Wintry Mix
A cold wave will make its way to Alabama and usher in some of the most frigid temperatures in our area since December 2022.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, "Global models continue to hint at the potential for some "wintry" precipitation over the northern half of Alabama Monday night into Tuesday morning. It remains too early to be specific.”
The “arctic front will approach the area on Monday with sufficient moisture expected to support a wintry mix of precipitation across portions of the area much of the day Monday into early Tuesday morning,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Also, the region will experience a period of extreme cold on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures gradually becoming milder toward the end of the week.
“Most of the state will stay below freezing all day Tuesday, and by Wednesday morning, lows will drop into the 10-15 degree range over the northern half of the state, with teens all the way down to near I-10,” said Spann.
