Afternoon Updated Outlook
The Storm Prediction Center has portions of Alabama under an "enhanced risk" (level 3/5) of severe thunderstorms for parts of Central and South Alabama.
We are watching the position of the warm front, which helps guide us on how far north the severe weather will reach.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said this means that “the core threat of severe storms will be over the southern half of the state.”
The most significant risk for tornadoes lies in the "enhanced risk" zone, with the highest danger concentrated along and south of U.S. 80.
What You Should Keep in Mind
“There will be multiple waves of storms from roughly 3:00 p.m. until midnight. A few severe storms could linger into the pre-dawn hours across Southeast Alabama, although the intensity levels should be decreasing,” said Spann.
