Alabama Alert: Wind Advisory Issued Ahead of Severe Weather Threat
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “WIND ADVISORY” for West and Central Alabama. This includes the Townsquare Media coverage areas of Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.
This WIND ADVISORY is in place for Tuesday, March 4, starting at noon and continuing until Wednesday, March 5, at 3 p.m.
This advisory was issued before the severe weather threat arrived in our area Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
In addition, the wind advisory covers all 67 Alabama counties.

What to Expect
Residents can expect Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. In addition, winds will “shift to a westerly direction behind the front, but will still be strong on Wednesday,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “Wind fields will be impressive with a tight pressure gradient. Ahead of the line, gradient winds (non-thunderstorm) could gust to 40 mph. With the line itself, convective winds could be high enough in spots to bring down some trees and power lines.”
Possible Threats
Strong winds may scatter unsecured objects and topple trees, potentially causing a few power outages.

How to Prepare
These strong winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles, so exercise extra caution and secure any outdoor items.
