The 247Sports recruiting service updated it’s rankings yesterday, and with it came history for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama now has the highest rated recruiting class in the history of college football with a score of 325.46. according to the 247Sports ranking system. The system assigns a number score to every player, adds the whole class together, and applies a formula to calculate a total score.

Alabama’s score passes the 2010 Florida Gators, who’s record score of 324.62 sat unreached for over a decade.

The Crimson Tide received a boost with the updated rankings when long time linebacker commit Deontae Lawson earned his fifth star, giving Alabama a total of seven 5-stars for the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The seven 5-stars marks the most in a Saban-era recruiting class. Those names include JC Latham, Tommy Brockermeyer, JaCorey Brooks, GaQuincy McKinstry, Camar Wheaton, Turner, and Lawson.

What’s even more impressive is this class may not be done. Alabama is still very much in the recruiting race for 5-star defensive tackle J.T Tuimolaou and 5-star safety Terrion Arnold. While Arnold plans to sign on National Signing day on February 3rd, Tuimolaou has decided to push his decision date beyond that.

In addition to the 5-stars, Alabama’s group of 4-star signees rank as the highest graded class of 4-stars in the country. All in all, the class has a 16 point lead over the Ohio State Buckeyes, who have a score of 309.47.

Barring any unforeseen decommitments, the Crimson Tide will finish this recruiting cycle with the title of the top-ranked recruiting class of the year, and the top ranked class for the second time in the last three years.
