Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's success as a starter for the Crimson Tide hasn't translated to national awards and recognition, but Sports Illustrated recognizes his accomplishments on the newest magazine cover.

In the story by L. Jon Werthem, the argument about whether he's the greatest quarterback to wear crimson and white is presented.

McCarron might be almost as well known for his arm candy as his arm strength, his body ink as his body of work. But let’s be clear: He’s not just one of the great Alabama quarterbacks. AJ McCarron is on the short list of the most successful players in the history of college football. Even if not many think of him that way.

Alabama has already made the cover a couple of times this season. Christion Jones' opening game performance against Virginia Tech earned him a spot in September while T.J. Yeldon graced the cover of the college football preview issue over the Summer.
