It was another relatively easy victory for the American Christian Academy Patriots on Friday Night, this time over the Dallas County Hornets to move the Patriots to 7-1 on the season. The loss dropped Dallas County to 3-5 on the year.

While this game was not expected to be particularly close going into it, Dallas County surprised the home crowd by going up 12-0 early on. Hornet quarterback Day-Day Pollum, who is not their regular QB1, but one of their best athletes filling in due to injury, led a 13-play, 75 yard scoring drive to start the game and put Dallas County up 6-0 after a missed 2-point conversion attempt.

On the following drive for ACA, Sawyer Deerman made a poor decision and threw a deep ball into double coverage that was intercepted, giving Dallas County great field position, which they took advantage of on their way to a 12-0 lead.

After that, it was all ACA from there, with Ty Flowers settling the Patriots down by way of a 57-yard touchdown rush by Ty Flowers. After their defense made a stop, Sawyer Deerman led the offense down the field, with the drive ending in a Christian Davis rushing touchdown to put ACA back on top.

Flowers ended the game with 122 rushing yards and two scores, while Davis finished with 106 yards and two touchdowns as well.

After another touchdown each from Flowers and Davis, with ACA up 27-12 nearing the end of the half, Dallas County fumbled on their own 25-yard line with just seconds remaining in the half, and coach Cody Martin and Sawyer Deerman took advantage.

With a beautiful play design, Deerman rolled out and delivered a perfect strike to Chance Henderson for a 25-yard score to put the game at 34-12 and essentially out of reach at the end of the half.

The same trend continued in the second half even with most of ACA's starters removed, as the Hornets just simply could not stop the ACA offense. They did find the end zone two more times however and convert for two both times, with Day-Day Pollum leading Dallas County for two scoring drives late in the fourth quarter.

Pollum finished with three rushing scores and was able to command the Hornets offense to scoring drives late in the game when they were already out of it, showing admirable fight.

"Dallas County is a really good team, they've got a lot of good players, their coach does a great job, and they came out ready to fight tonight," said ACA head coach Cody Martin on the fight of Dallas County.

Next week, ACA will head on the road to take on 5-2 West Blocton, a game that will be a nice test for the Patriots as they begin to wrap up their regular season and prepare for the postseason.
