75 Days Away From Bama Kickoff: Barrett Jones

Each day counting down to Alabama's Week 1 matchup with Utah State, I will highlight one former player whose jersey number coincides with the amount of days until the game. In honor of the Tide taking the field just 75 days from now, let's take a look at one of the most decorated players in program history, Barrett Jones. 

Barrett Jones was a cornerstone piece of the Crimson Tide's culture changing 2008 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 280lb. four-star was the top ranked center in the nation, per Rivals, and chose Alabama over several other SEC offers, including Florida, Georgia, Auburn and more.

Jones redshirted his freshman season, but in his second year, the Memphis, TN native was ready to make a push for a bigger role, and did so. Taking over as the right guard, Jones started all 14 games of the 2009 season, blocking for Heisman winner Mark Ingram and helping win the program's first national title since 1992.

In 2011, Jones would make the switch to left tackle where he would again help guide the Crimson Tide to a national championship victory, taking down LSU in the Sugar Bowl and avenging a regular season loss.

Finally, in Jones' senior season he would change positions again, moving back to the interior line and taking over as the center. He started all 14 games en route to yet another national title and was selected as a consensus All-American.

Jones put together a career for the ages in his four years at Alabama. As a three-time national champion, two-time consensus All-American, two-time All-SEC selection and the only player ever to win the Outland and Rimington in separate seasons, his resume would certainly be hard to replicate.
