Police officers in Tuscaloosa have arrested five men accused of robbing Chuy's Tex Mex restaurant on McFarland Boulevard Monday night.

Lt. Teena Richardson, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said five men walked into Chuy's around 11:15 Monday night and fired several shots in the air before grabbing the cash register till and leaving with roughly $2,000 in stolen cash.

Richardson said a University of Alabama Police officer was in the area and was able to quickly arrest two suspects on Edward Hillard Drive soon after the robbery and  TPD picked up two more on 18th Place.

Police recovered the till and the stolen cash as well as a shotgun, Richardson said.

Investigators arrested Kardell Varshae Doss and Michael Terrell Martin, who are both 25, 34-year-old Senica Francis Harris and one juvenile, whom Richardson did not identify.

A fifth suspect evaded capture but turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon.

 

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: Lt. Teena Richardson said the fifth suspect, Jarmarcus Kacey Woodard, turned himself in to police at the Tuscaloosa County Jail around 3:15 Tuesday afternoon. All suspects have now been arrested and charged.
