A Tuscaloosa man named Daniel Lamar Cochrane, 34 was arrested for allegedly breaking into his sister’s house and shooting her pit bull and terrier dogs with a handgun. His sister tells police he killed her dogs because they had been arguing. Cochrane, is facing charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Cochrane told officers he forced his way into the home after hearing the dogs barking inside because she wasn’t supposed to have dogs in the residence, according to court records.

He said he found a .45-caliber handgun in the residence and shot the animals because they were being aggressive.  Tuscaloosa Police arrested Cochrane Thursday and he remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Friday afternoon with bond set at $36,000 — $30,000 for the burglary charge and $6,000 for the animal cruelty charge.

Is it just me, why is shooting the dogs like 80% lesser bond than the burglary charges?
