The country music community is getting ready to head to Las Vegas, Nev., for the 2017 ACM Awards on April 2, but after the big awards show is done, the Academy of Country Music will still have a special event to look forward to: the ACM Honors. Preliminary details for the 2017 ceremony have been announced.

According to Music Row, the 2017 ACM Honors will take place at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on Aug. 23. The annual event, now in its 11th year, recognizes off-camera ACM Awards winners and the ACM's special honorees. In 2016, the ceremony was recorded and broadcast, at a later date, for the very first time, and ACM CEO Pete Fisher says that although discussions with CBS are still ongoing, "all signs point to yes, that it will be televised for a second year."

ACM Honors honorees will be revealed after the 2017 ACM Awards take place in early April. Fisher explains that, this year, the Academy wants to "create greater separation between our awards in Las Vegas and the ACM Honors, really as a way to lift up ACM Honors to an even higher profile.” The ACM Honors awards recipients, Fisher adds, "deserved to have their own moment."

In 2016, Lady Antebellum hosted the ACM Honors ceremony, during which Carrie UnderwoodGlen CampbellCrystal GayleTanya Tucker, the Statler Brothers, Little Big Town and more were recognized for various achievements. Performers during the annual event included Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Blake SheltonKeith UrbanJason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan, CamMaren Morris, Cole Swindell and more.

“We felt that ACM Honors has really found a personality of its own. It’s distinctive and filled with a lot of heart," Fisher says. "So this is a great way for us to kind of elevate and express our even greater devotion to making ACM Honors one of our two flagship events in Music City annually."

More details about the 2017 ACM Honors will be announced at a later date. The 2017 ACM Awards, meanwhile, are set to take place at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, for the first time ever, on April 2. The show will air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET.
