Each week, 95.3 The Bear and Pepsi will spotlight ‘A Southern Original’ featuring an up and coming country artist and delve into their music and history.

We first learned about Rachel Lipsky back on August 1st when she took the stage at 4th & 23rd with four other artists in the 'Pepsi Southern Original' tour showdown. At the end of the night, all judges compared notes and determined that Rachel was the night's winner! She and her band will join nine others on stage at Tootsie's (08/28) for the finals in Panama City, FL. The winner will open up on the main stage at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam on Sunday (08/31).

While on stage she commands attention like a rock star, determined and comfortable with a band equally confident. While at 4th & 23rd she railed through a few originals and ended with her cover of Gary Allan's 'Bones.' Rachel's voice is mature with a rich, almost angelic tone that may bring to mind Patty Loveless. The shining example of her vocal beauty can be best heard on 'Addicted to the Rain.'

In just the past two years Rachel Lipsky has been named the IMEA Country Female Vocalist of the Year award, invited by Armed Forces Entertainment to perform for the troops overseas, hired by Charlotte Speedway and the Professional Bull Riders to perform the national anthem at a number of their events (both in and out of Nashville) and has been tapped to host monthly songwriter nights in Nashville.

She has a few songs available on iTunes now and continues to tour the country, building a following. Given her talent, Rachel Lipsky is a name you could hear a lot more of the the future.
