Every day, 22 veterans commit suicide and the Facebook group Buddy Check 22 wants to change that statistic.

According to the page:

'BUDDY CHECK 22 is a day to call a veteran that you know and check in on them to hopefully change the fact that 22 veterans a day commit suicide. The best part... You don't have to go ANYWHERE. Invite your friends, have them invite theirs, and be a part of something that may just save a life. It's 2 minutes out of your day, and every veteran deserves to know that we still care about them.'

Being apart of Buddy Check 22 is simple. Just commit to checking in with a veteran anytime between 9:00 am and 11:00 pm this Thursday and let them know you're thinking about them.

Since former Marine Reservist Zach Ziegal created the page, over 5.1 million people have been invited and almost 600,000 have made the commitment to check in with a veteran.
