The Vestavia Hills Rebels (1-4) earned their first victory of the season with a convincing 50-0 win over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats (1-4).

First year head coach of the Rebels, Sean Calhoun, saw lots of improvement from his team in his first win at the helm.

"Our players came out like we wanted them to," said Calhoun. "Our kids were really hungry and focused on playing a really good four quarter game and we stuck it out."

The Rebels went on to score on their next three drives making the score 27-0 going into the half. As halftime concluded, both teams were kept in their respective locker rooms as an hour and a half weather delay occurred.

Both offenses came out of the delay slow, but the Rebels soon picked up the pace. Towns found his favorite target Turner once again in the end zone with 2:48 left in the third quarter to put the Rebels up 34-0.

The Rebels forced a safety and scored twice in the fourth quarter to seal the deal, 50-0.

Towns finished with 161 passing yards and three touchdowns on 12-of-17 passing. Towns was also effective on the ground with 40 rushing yards and a touchdown. Turner was also a bright spot for the Rebels finishing with 74 receiving yards.

Wildcat QB Brax Garrison had a tough night throwing for 40 yards on 6-of-12 passing with an interception.

Tuscaloosa County head coach Adam Winegarden is hopeful that his team will step up the rest of the season.

"We just have a lot of decisions to make as a team going forward if we want to improve as a football team," said Winegarden.

Both teams will be off next week before the Wildcats face Gadsden City and the Rebels host Thompson.
