Julia Tutwiler Hall has welcomed 40,000 students since 1960. Give UA noted that the residence hall served as a “home away from home” at the Capstone. This makes for a great reason to celebrate this tradition.

The University of Alabama plans to continue the legacy of Julia Tutwiler Hall as they prepare for the new Tutwiler Hall that will “accommodate over 1,200 freshmen, female students.” The residence hall will promote meeting the student needs with a more “intimate community-style living and study spaces to encourage a sense of comfort and togetherness” noted by Building Bama.

According to a Facebook Post by The University of Alabama, they want to know “did you live in Tutwiler Hall or previously lived there? UA Student Life is collecting memories from current and past residents to help illustrate the significant impact this residence hall has had on so many lives. Share your favorite memories + stories from your Tutwiler days.”

The deadline to share your memories and stories with the virtual memory book is Monday, February 14, 2022. Give UA noted that “Student Life will select one person who submits a story and/or pictures by February 14th to be honored with a paver on the new Tutwiler Promenade.”

Also, you can help celebrate the new Julia Tutwiler Hall by your support of various remembrance items like a custom paver for the new Tutwiler, a keepsake room number, or a commemorative brick. Click here for more details.
