UA Grads Foolishly Pay Off Student Loans

Well, I guess by now you have heard the GREAT NEWS! President (Buy-them) Biden is cancelling up to 10k in student loans – POSSIBLY MORE depending on your financial situation.

And some folks, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, aren’t happy about it. Including me.

Imagine if YOU JUST made your last student loan payment.

THEN YOU FIND OUT WHAT A SCHMUCK YOU ARE FOR NOT WAITING A LIL BIT LONGER…

When I was 18, my mother told me I was going to pay for it myself. 

I had a dream. I was going to enroll in McDonald's Hamburger U.

From there, my plan was to open my own restaurant chain and call it MCJOHNNY’S! 

It woulda been off DA HOOK.

Basically it was gonna be a burger place BUT – YOU COULD SMOKE IN THE RESTARAUNT.

In fact– IT WAS GOING TO BE A CONDITION OF ADMITTANCE. 

"Light up a MARLBORO or GET OUTTA HERE!"

( ME ) 

But-

It was not to be. I couldn't afford college. And I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE OUT A LOAN.

I really didn't know what all that was at 18... but I knew I wanted no part of it.

So I worked - CRUMMY JOBS FOR HORRIBLE PEOPLE. Guys who would run into the studio AND YELL AT ME! 

Steve and DC know a couple of the guys I worked for. It wasn't always fun.

But I did it.

See, I had to live with my decision. Nobody bailed me out. (Steve DID get me a couple jobs– but HE NEVER CUT ME A 10K CHECK!) 

BTW- This is NOT a political post. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS BABY!

I am HAPPY TO PAY A PORTION OF MY WAGES TO FEED A HUNGRY BABY.

To pave roads I may never drive on, support veterans health care or assist communities after a natural disaster. Etc.

I am certain most West Alabamians are.

But me UNDERWRITING SOMEONE ELSE’S COLLEGE SO THEY CAN END UP MAKING MORE MONEY THAN I OVER THE COURSE OF A LIFETIME??

That's a bridge to far for this poor ole DJ.
