A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016; schools and businesses are closing early in anticipation of the winter weather.
Across the area today there was significant difference in the amount of snow received, if any in some spots. It's not surprising to see the schools in the areas hit the hardest deciding to keep the doors closed on Thursday.
Schools in the area have decided to not take any chances and call off classes due to the threat for significant snow and travel hazards. Here's the list of schools closed on Wednesday.
Tuscaloosa and West Alabama has been issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Friday (February 20). Due to this weather threat we are receiving notice of schools who have decided to dismiss early today.
Area schools have decided to delay the start of school due to the threat of overnight icing in the area. Cold air is pushing into the area following a rainy day. There is concern of wet roads and bridges freezing.
