An aging shopping center on Tuscaloosa's Skyland Boulevard is soon to undergo a $25 million facelift to revitalize the entire property, a representative for the landlord said on Tuesday.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and most of the city council joined Councilman Cassius Lanier Tuesday morning for a ribbon cutting at Springbrook Park, the site of almost $2 million in fresh improvements.

Three new-to-market restaurants are coming to Tuscaloosa soon in a brand-new shopping center being planned in a currently residential area off McFarland Boulevard.

Lanier received interest from several schools after entering his name in the transfer portal, he ended up choosing Indiana over Virginia Tech, Alabama A&M, Jacksonville State, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, and Tennessee-Martin.
