During certain times of year, I don’t really carry a purse when I go into stores.  For some reason, a purse feels like unnecessary bulk.  Rather than taking my purse with me when I know I’m going to be in the store less than 5 minutes, I just take my wallet. (And yes, there are times when I know I’m going to be less than 5 minutes.  When I’m going for particular items, I run in, grab them, and get out.)

Lately, each time I go into the store, the security alert goes off as I enter the store!  I usually notify someone at the front of the store so they realize I’m going to go off when I exit the store as well, and I won’t be accused of possibly stealing.

Last night, I entered the store, and the alarm sounded.  I made sure the greeter at the door saw that it went off as I came into the store.  With my daughter and another child with me, we performed a test.  I had one to walk out of the store with my keys.  It didn’t alert.  I had one to take my wristlet and walk out.  It went off!

Well, the past few weeks, I’ve been using a wristlet rather than my wallet or purse.  The young lady at the door asked me if my wristlet was real.  I told her it was.  She said that many real handbags set off security alarms.

WHO KNEW???

I’m not really sure what it is about the bag that causes the alert, but I’m glad to know what causes it. So, ladies, if you’re experiencing the same thing, consider the purse you carry.
