The first weekend of March brings a threat for severe weather in West Alabama. The National Weather Service in Birmingham's forecast for Sunday includes the threat of damaging winds up to 60 miles an hour and isolated tornadoes. Areas south of Interstate 20/59 have been placed in the NWS' "slight" risk area for this severe weather threat which is currently expected to impact the state between noon and 9 p.m.
