Peyton Wilson Named to SEC Baseball Community Service Team
The Southeastern Conference released their Baseball Community Service Team this afternoon and Alabama baseball’s second baseman Peyton Wilson was named to the 2021 team. Every year, the SEC highlights an athlete from each school that gives back to their community.
During the 2019-2020 Alabama season, Wilson dedicated 15 hours of community service. Most of his volunteer work was with the Alberta Head Start program. The agency provides resources and services to low-income and vulnerable people in West Alabama. Wilson participated in 11 volunteer events with the Alberta Head Start program.
Wilson also participated in volunteer opportunities at the Salvation Army, local elementary schools, and The Miracle League of Tuscaloosa. He was also involved in the University of Alabama’s ‘Thank-a-Thon’ and Halloween Extravaganza.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 this past year, there were limited volunteer opportunities for this past season. However, Wilson still managed to collect some on field awards and recognition.
So far in his sophomore year Wilson leads in runs and stolen bases, is tied for the team lead in hits with 62 and tied for second in doubles with a total of 11. He is tied for third in the conference for doubles during conference play, tied for 13th in conference for hits and stolen bases and led off games with a home run five times.
