Looks like the area near the Northport City Hall may see a huge increase in traffic as more businesses have been added to the “Coming Soon” roster.

According to Northport City Councilman Jay Logan, Marble Slab creamery and Great American Cookie Company are slated to come to the area east of city hall.

Councilman Jeff Hogg already announced a new Guthries restaurant would be built near the Northport Civic Center, where a Planet Fitness Gym and Firehouse Subs would be coming next year. Read more on that here.

So, add two places for diners to grab a dessert, and the Planet Fitness just may be in the right spot!

In years past, there were movements toward establishing an entertainment complex near the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Northport. The widening of McFarland Blvd and other beautification projects led city leaders to consider the possibility of obtaining new businesses and to maintain their viability.

Northport city leaders have been aggressive in providing incentives for various retailers to establish businesses in the city, further solidifying the city as a standalone.  It is but one of the cities surrounding Tuscaloosa which provides a great quality of life, and as more retailers and other developments come to the city, the less likely area residents are to cross the river to spend money.
