Former UA QB Mac Jones officially signed with the New England Patriots. His deal is a 4-year $15.6M contract with a fifth-year option.

Jones was selected by the Patriots No. 15 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft back in April.

Since starting practices at Patriots OTA’s, Jones looked impressive all spring, being able to: throw deep, accurately hitting his targets, and showing great pocket awareness during scrimmages. He’s also starting making connections and friendships with the new veterans on the team.

The veterans already are saying good things about him. Patriots TE Hunter Henry is looking forward to seeing how the rookie succeeds. “Mac's doing a great job,” said Henry in May. “Good to have him here, and we're all excited for him."

He is projected to be Cam Newton’s backup and is No. 2 on the Patriots.com depth chart.

Jones is one of two former UA players to be drafted by the Patriots this past draft. DT Christian Barmore went in the second round, No. 38 overall.

Last season, while at UA, Jones went 311-for-402 with 4,514 yards, throwing 41 TD’s and four INT’s; his team going undefeated, winning the SEC Championship and the CFP National Championship.
