Six-year NFL veteran and former Crimson Tide safety, Landon Collins, after suffering a season ending achilles tendon tear in week seven of last year, is ready for a comeback season. The three-time pro bowler returned to practice this week as Washington kicked off phase III of their offseason workout program this week.

Though he didn't participate in team drills, Collins was able to take part in some individual ones and when asked about his return to play said, "I feel awesome," Collins said with a smirk on his face, "It's been a long journey I'll tell you that much, but being back on the field and being able to cut, run, jump, jog and all different kind of things, it feels great. It feels strong."

When specifically asked if he would be prepared for the Football Team's week one matchup with the Chargers, Collins said definitively, "Do I think I'll be ready for week one? Yes, I'll be ready for week one."

Collins, in his six years in the NFL, has been a solid option at the safety position, being named first team All-Pro in 2016 and making three consecutive pro bowls from 2016-18. Many fans may remember Collins well not only for his impressive play on the field in his time at Alabama, but for his memorable commitment where the five-star selected the Crimson Tide over his home state school of LSU to the disdain of his mother seated beside him.

Collins has shown he has the ability to play at an extremely high level in this league, and has a chance to prove it yet again this year. Despite some offseason reports that claimed Collins would be making a move to linebacker, Washington defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio confirmed the former pro bowler would remain a strong safety.
